Next Generation Disc Golf broadens the 2018 Next Gen Tour with divisional play, confirms its strategic partnership with Latitude 64°, and announces strategic partnership with the Professional Disc Golf Association.
The 2018 season will be bigger, better, and more fun than last year. We’re pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with the PDGA. All qualifier tournaments this year will be sanctioned C-Tiers and more importantly, will host 3 ratings based divisions to appeal to a broader base of amateurs:
Gladiators (blue): PDGA Amateurs with a player rating of 935 or Greater
Knights (white): PDGA Amateurs with a player rating between 900 and 935
Saints (red): PDGA Amateurs with a player rating below 900
The divisions will be contested through both the Regional Championships and the National Disc Golf Virtual Challenge. The results are scheduled to be hosted at the PDGA website.
The strategic partnership with the PDGA comes with some other Next Gen Tour exclusives including: waiving the $10 non-current player fee.
“2017 showed that the tour had strong traction with non-members and non-current PDGA members, waiving this fee was an important step to ensure we can continue to serve those competitors while simultaneously promoting the PDGA” – Synthya Whitaker, co-founder and associate director of Next Generation Disc Golf.
The Tour’s 8 Regional Championships will be sanctioned as B-Tiers and the National Championship will be sanctioned as an A-Tier.
“There’s a natural alignment with the PDGA that adds value to our competitors, and we’re glad to be working closer with them this year. We’re also excited about upgrading the player experience with greater returns” – David Feldberg, Next Generation Disc Golf co-founder and Next Gen Tour Director, as well as a Latitude 64° sponsored team member and a Latitude USA liaison.
In 2017, the PDGA named Feldberg the most competitive disc golfer in the past decade.
Latitude 64° has reconfirmed their partnership as the Next Gen Tour exclusive manufacturer partner. Competitors eager to know about this year’s qualifier players package will be pleased to learn that the two exclusive discs that will be included are: First Run Gold Line Ballista Pro X Burst and a first ever Limited Edition 2K Moonshine Sarek. Latitude 64° will also be sponsoring the payouts and trophies to each division at the qualifiers… an addition to the 2018 Next Gen Tour.
“Latitude 64°’s support was essential to our success in 2017 and this year we couldn’t be more excited to reconfirm our strategic partnership. They’ve stepped up again to help take the 2018 Next Gen Tour to new heights” said Feldberg.
